What are Stalactites and Stalagmite?
Stalactite and Stalagmite are both the names of a type of crystal/rock formation. Stalactites are the ones attached to the roof of a cave and Stalagmites are the formation that is attached to the floor of the cave.
How I remember the difference 
Stalactite has to hold on tight (tite) to the ceiling or they will fall while Stalagmite try with all of their might (mite) to reach up to the light!
How do they form?
Both Stalactites and Stalagmites for in cave through the precipitation of calcium bicarbonate and water over time. What does that mean? water slowly drips over time with little bits of stuff in it and as it evaporates it sticks and grows getting bigger and bigger.
