Gaspeite History Mythology Information: Gaspeite is a very rare nickel carbonate mineral that was first described in the Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec, Canada and that is how it received its name. It has only been found in Canada and Australia. In Australia, the Aboriginal people in Western Australia have used Gaspeite since the Dreamtime in order to assist them to embark on spiritual visions/journeys. Mining deposits in both countries have now been depleted on a commercial level and so it is considered a rare stone. Small non-commercial deposits are still available in Australia which is where I get my stones directly from.
