I am asked all the time about the difference between using normal Shungite and Elite Shungite for Water. Here is my response:

If you are planning to put it into water then I would always recommend the Elite Shungite over the water stones as Elite Shungite has fewer inclusions and is 92-98% carbon.   So this makes it a cleaner stone at a higher grade.

We have a 4lt Water  filter and comfortably get away with 200 grams in it however some people will start off with less and build up depending on affordability ? 

Normal Shungite is up to 60% carbon.  The higher the level of Carbon the better the grade of Shungite.  Elite Shungite MUST be certificated 92-98% Carbon to be called Elite Shugite. 

Elite Shungite is approximately 1% of all Shungite found and is rarely caved as there is too little of it found.  If you see Shungite for sale and it doesn’t state it is Elite, Nobel, Crystal, or Silver it will NOT be Elite Shungite it will be normal Shungite.

The Nobel prize and research were done over the fullerenes in Shungite and the higher the level of Carbon the more fullerenes in the Shungite.  However normal Shungite is cheaper so you are getting more so increasing the fullerenes in the product that way.

It always comes down to affordability, anytime you add ANY type of Shungite to your water it is going to make it better, you need to make the personal decision on what is the right product for you.

Shungite for Water: How to Cleanse and Maintain

How to use Shungite in Water

Cleaning your Shungite Water Stone

Sprinkle 1 to 2 Tablespoons for Bi-Carb over 200g of Shungite the slowly pour several cups of white vinegar over the top – I usually do this is a long flat glass baking container.  This causes a reaction and the mixture will bubble up.  Once the bubbling has stopped you can pure a little more Vinegar on and keep doing this until it stops bubbling.  This way you are using all of the Bi-Carb crystals.  Rinse your Shungite very thoroughly under cool running water.  Your water could look grey as the loose powder is removed.  DO NOT use soap.

Shungite Enhanced Water how to make
Place your well-rinsed Shungite into a 2-liter glass or enamel container and fill with cold tap water.    Use 2 liters of water for each 200g of Shungite.

Rest the water stand with the Shungite in it for 24 hours or overnight. The container must be open to breathe during this process. A thin, natural fiber cloth can be used to cover the container to exclude dust and insects.

Using Shungite-infused water
Pour the Shungite-infused water into another lidded glass or ceramic container. This water is the finished water, ready for use. Refill the original Shungite container with tap water to prepare a new batch.
Don’t throw out the rinse what as this is excellent to use as a hair rinse or for pets drinking water, birds, and plants.  I have found that the Shungite Water stones (Chit) last for about 18 months to 2 years depending on your water quality and amount of use.  I don’t have a timeframe currently on using Elite in water as I am still using my first batch.   

I have experience and heard the comment that the water tastes ‘sweeter’ when using Shungite and when this taste changes back to being similar to normal water it is ready to change over.  Please use the discarded stones in your garden or around plants.  Our last lot was placed in the garden Bird Bath and the birds love coming and have a drink and bath from it 🙂 

Maintenance
Once a month,  re-soak and stir your Shungite Chit in the baking soda/vinegar mix as described above. Then thoroughly rinse the Shungite chit under running water. Put the chit in the sun for at least an hour to dry out and recharge. Sterilize all your containers at regular intervals. Replace the Shungite with new Chit approximately every 18-24 months, depending on the quality of your source water.
